Why We Are Different
Our Holistic Approach to Beating Addiction
Our holistic approach to treatment means healing the “whole” person by repairing the damage done by addiction to the mind, body, spirit, emotions and environment.
The life elements of body, mind, spirit and environment need to be brought back into balance to achieve total recovery and success hence how we got our name, InnerBalance Health Center – a holistic approach to addiction treatment.
We have had great success when creating a customized plan to address all these elements to the specific patient needsl. Restoring a person’s biochemical imbalances helps eliminate cravings that lead to addiction. We don’t just treat the symptoms and teach you to cope, we strive to eliminate the source of cravings and prepare you with lifelong tools necessary to stay sober. Unfortunately, many treatment programs choose to focus on just one of these four crucial elements. This often alleviates the goals of achieving lifelong sobriety.
Our holistic approach combines the interaction between mind, body, spirit and environment which is the key to our incredible 86% client satisfaction rate.
Holistic Approach – Body
Symptoms of untreated health conditions such as insomnia, anxiety & depression–cause individuals to self-medicate with drugs and alcohol to feel normal. At InnerBalance Health Center we identify and heal these biochemical imbalances. This is a critical component that is often missed with traditional treatment. Our extensive lab testing pinpoints imbalances and we use vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and essential fatty acids to restore balance.
Left untreated, these conditions can cause depression, anxiety, mood swings, racing thoughts, difficulty sleeping, fatigue and cravings for more drugs or alcohol. Our extensive lab testing pinpoints imbalances using vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids and powerful natural products. We also utilize natural approaches such as microcurrent stimulation, alpha-stim, infrared sauna, reiki, etc.
Before leaving InnerBalance, clients learn to care for themselves and make decisions that benefit and enhance their lives including planning and preparing healthy meals, keeping physically active, and building strong support systems.
Holistic Approach – Spirit
At InnerBalance when we use the words spirit or spirituality we mean important connections in peoples’ lives that give meaning and purpose, such as family, friends and a higher power. These loving connections extend to animals, nature and oneself. As addiction progresses, vital connections with friends, family & a higher power are damaged as drugs become the single most important thing.
At InnerBalance our counselors work to help clients understand these losses and provide tools to repair vital connections so they can feel whole again. The loss of important spiritual connections is also the loss of love, faith and hope.
At InnerBalance our spiritual counselors work to help clients understand these losses and provide tools to repair vital connections so they can feel whole again.
Holistic Approach – Environment
Building a healthy, safe, productive foundation for day to day life outside of treatment is key to total recovery. Before leaving InnerBalance, clients learn to care for themselves and make decisions that benefit and enhance their lives.
Our life coaches help clients develop a strong program that they can follow when they return home. This program includes planning and preparing healthy meals, keeping physically active, staying on beneficial supplements and building strong support systems.
A strong support system is a key component of a healthy environment. Support systems may include Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Life Ring, Women for Sobriety, Cocaine Anonymous, continued individual counseling, family counseling, and church attendance. Our counselors will also help a client evaluate their living arrangements to see what changes are needed, or they might suggest a sober living facility for continued sobriety.
Examples of health conditions that affect addiction:
- Hormonal Imbalances
- Adrenal Fatigue
- Nutrient Deficiencies
- Amino Acid Imbalances
- Genetic Factors
Holistic Approach – Mind
We help clients create a psychological shift in the way they think about their alcohol or drug use. They can no longer think that substance use is the solution to their problems, but is actually the cause of their life’s problems.
Those struggling with addiction often wrongly believe that they can handle just one drink or handle using drugs just a little bit. The thought that they can stop after just a few, that everything will be fine, leads to the decision to pick up that first drink or drug.
At InnerBalance we also help clients begin to replace negative thoughts about self and life with more constructive positive thoughts. Through counseling, clients can rediscover confidence and hope.
Clients must come to accept they have a condition that means one single drink or use of a drug will lead to a loss of control. They come to see that substance use is actually the cause of their life’s problems, not the solution.
Holistic Approach – Emotions
Often people struggling with addiction have overwhelming emotions that have been numbed by drugs and alcohol for weeks, months and even years. Each of us grow emotionally as we reach physical and mental maturity. However, with the extended use of drugs and alcohol, that maturity can be halted or delayed causing additional stress to a patient when they start recovery.
Just as a child struggling with disease can often have delayed physical growth because the body uses it’s resources to fight the disease, the emotional growth of an addicted patient is often stinted by the use of drugs or alcohol. Patients are overwhelmed with the emotions that have been numbed by their addiction, once they stop using drugs or alcohol.
At InnerBalance Treatment center in Loveland, Colorado, our counselors and therapists work with addicted patients to help them understand their emotions, and offer them reassurance that the feeling of overwhelm is a normal part of recovery. In addition, they offer patients techniques and tools to help with the struggles of growing emotionally and transitioning back into their lives.

Does the treatment center prescribe addictive medications such as benzodiazepines or opiates?
No, InnerBalance does not prescribe those types of medications, unless needed for temporary stabilization for withdrawal symptoms. We focus on identifying the root causes of cravings, repairing your body’s biochemical imbalances and teaching you the lifelong skills necessary to stay sober.
How does the treatment center plan to eliminate depression, anxiety, sleep problems, mood swings, and racing mind?
At InnerBalance we realize the need to find the root cause of these issues. For example, a racing mind can come from too much histamine in the brain, a condition caused Histadelia. When we find this condition through lab testing, we use the safe amino acids and vitamins that will lower histamine levels. Depression can come from under-functioning neurotransmitters, like serotonin.
Through urine testing, we check the serotonin receptors by looking at the Tryptophan levels, and then treat with the appropriate amino acids. Please call us for a more thorough description on how we can deal with underlying symptoms. These examples just scratch the surface of our biochemical restoration approach which is integral to our holistic treatment philosophy.
